Lesson notes
A synonym has a similar meaning to another word; an antonym has an opposite meaning. Similar does not always mean interchangeable: “slim” and “thin” overlap, but their tone can differ. Select vocabulary according to context, audience and register. For antonyms, check whether the relationship is a direct opposite or simply a contrast. Build a vocabulary notebook with the word, meaning, part of speech, example sentence and related words.
